After seeing Jo Anne (and admiring her legs) at a party, Clinton E. Thaxter, Jr. asks a friend to set up a blind date. It culminates with Clinton asking Jo Anne "Where have you been all my life?" Jo Anne's response? "Right here." Their original wedding plans get tossed aside when Clinton is called to active duty from the Navy Reserves. Instead of marrying in November, the wedding is pushed back to the day after Christmas. Jo Anne and Clinton become man and wife on December 26, 1953.
